THE NEED FOR OUR WORK Among children who are admitted to hospitals, those who end up having to stay are at a higher risk of negative effects such as stress, anxiety, and isolation. 1 in 20 children are treated in hospitals each year. Our surveys show an increase in hospital experience for children and parents/guardians by 40% after a Giggle Doctor visit. According to a CQC report, 25% of parents of children aged 0 – 7 and 38% of children aged 8 – 11 said that the staff did not engage in activities in the hospital but would have liked them to have done so. 21% of young people aged 12 – 15 said that there was not enough to do in the hospital. This is where our Giggle Doctors come in!
