Our mission

At Theodora Children’s Charity we help children living with illness, disability and serious health challenges to feel better using the proven power of laughter. Our vision is to contribute to the wellbeing of children in the 13 core hospitals and specialist care centres we visit across England, as well as those we support virtually. Giggle Doctors are professional performers who undergo specialised 2 year training to equip them to work in hospitals, specialist care centres and with children who have disabilities or complex needs.

Our history

Theodora Children’s Charity was founded by Swiss brothers André and Jan Poulie in memory of their mother Théodora in 1994.

Our first hospital visited by the Giggle Doctors was Great Ormond Street, and over the last 29 years we have continued to create magical moments for thousands of children across the country receiving medical treatment through our bedside and Virtual Visits.
